Jim McNicol moved with his wife, Jeanette, to the DeKalb area from
southern California in 2005. In California, they served as staff members for
about twenty years in the college ministry of their local church. As leaders
of small group Bible studies, as well as on camps and retreats, they gained
a greater appreciation of community and the application of truth for this
demographic of God’s people.
Jim has recently served as an elder for seven years in his previous church
community, of which they were committed members since moving to the
area. He also taught Sunday school (kids, grades 3-5) there. Through
circumstances orchestrated only by the Lord, he and many from that
church body found a new home in First Baptist Church, Sycamore. Though
no longer an elder, Jim remains a Sunday school teacher, a member of
FBCs care team, while he and Jeanette lead and host a home Bible
fellowship for adults.
Jim is honored to be invited and accepted onto the Network of Nations
board of directors. For many years he and Jeanette looked forward to
hosting the occasional Intercultural Cafe with their church, becoming
acquainted with many internationals in a vital, yet casual, setting. Now, Jim
is climbing aboard with a group of well-grounded Christ followers for the
sake of the gospel in a mission field in their own backyard. He looks
forward to working with the NoN team and serving these wonderful
students sojourning in this part of God’s kingdom.
